SPONSORSHIP

Bringing Your Family to Canada with Family Sponsorship Canadian citizens and permanent residents often wish to bring their families to Canada, which is possible through Family Sponsorship Canada. This allows you to sponsor family members, including parents, grandparents, spouses or common-law partners, and dependent children, to join you in Canada through Family Reunification. This comprehensive guide will discuss the types of Canadian Family Sponsorship Visa Programs and how you can bring your loved ones to Canada.

What is Canadian Family Sponsorship? The Canadian Family Sponsorship Visa Program, introduced by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), assists Canadian citizens and permanent residents in bringing their relatives to Canada. Once approved, these relatives can study, work, or live in Canada.

Types of Canadian Family Sponsorship Programs IRCC currently offers Family Sponsorship Visa options for several groups:

Spousal Sponsorship:

Sponsor your spouse or common-law partner to Canada. Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship: Bring your parents or grandparents to Canada. Super Visa (Parents and Grandparents): Multiple-entry visa for parents and grandparents. Dependent Visa: Bring your dependent children under the age of 22 to Canada.

Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship:

To sponsor your parents or grandparents, you must prove your ability to financially support them according to the Minimum Necessary Income (MNI) requirement, and agree to support any additional family members they may choose to sponsor.

Super Visa for Parents and Grandparents:

If you cannot meet the financial requirements to sponsor your parents and grandparents under the regular visa conditions, the Super Visa is an alternative. Applicants must: Be a parent or grandparent of a Canadian permanent resident or citizen; Have medical insurance from a qualifying Canadian insurance company; Complete a medical exam before submitting the application.

Dependent Children Sponsorship:

The Child Sponsorship program allows permanent residents and citizens to bring their biological or adopted children to Canada. Eligible children must be: Under the age of 22; Unmarried and without children. Those over 22 may be considered if they have a severe physical or mental health condition that hinders self-support.

Sponsoring a Relative to Canada:

Under exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to sponsor extended relatives classified as “Lonely Canadians” who have no spouse, children, parents, or grandparents.
