Adela graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours degree in History and Political Science. She then attended law school at Osgoode Hall, York University, and obtained her Bachelor of Law Degree (LL.B), a Master’s degree in Administrative Law (LL.M), and a second Master’s degree in Family Law from Osgoode. Adela has, additionally, extensive training in child protection law, and she regularly provides presentations and workshops on domestic violence against women, immigration, and family law. She is especially adept at navigating the intersection between immigration and family law and has special expertise in Hague Convention applications. Adela has been successful in having abducted children returned to Canada, and she is often referred to difficult cases by many professionals across Canada, such as the Police, Children’s Aid Society, Women’s Shelters, Places of worship, LGBTQ+ community support organizations, as well as other lawyers who recognize and value her special expertise and unique knowledge and skill set.
